Resorts, Hotels & B&B’s Near North Scottsdale’s Pinnacle Peak
Four Seasons At Troon North
If you want to stay in a hotel within walking distance of Pinnacle Peak, you have one option, the acclaimed Four Seasons at Troon North. Ranked the number one resort in Scottsdale by Trip Advisor reviewers, you’ll have to splurge in the winter, but in the summer this stunning resort has rooms starting at $149.
Nestled in the boulder outcroppings adjacent to Pinnacle Peak, enjoy great views of the local landmark as well as the surrounding McDowell Mountains.
Golf is of course a premiere activity, as Four Seasons has easy shuttle access to the acclaimed nearby Troon North courses, Pinnacle and Monument.
The resort has four unique dining options (see Food) with great sunset, mountain and city light views.
Many activities avail themselves when staying at the resort, most popularly hiking Pinnacle Peak Trail. A beautiful path winds past giant saguaros from the resort to the Pinnacle Peak trailhead. The resort also provides mountain bikes you can take right into the nearby McDowell Sonoran Preserve. You can also walk to a myriad of other dining options such as rustic Greasewood Flat across the street, Pinnacle Grille, upscale Italian Sassi and Pinnacle Peak Patio. For everything else you’ll need a car to get around, as one of the lovely things about the Four Seasons At Troon North, is that it is nestled in quiet desert, removed from and high above the (easy-going) bustle of Scottsdale.

The Boulders Resort - A Short Drive to Pinnacle Peak
A ten minute drive to Pinnacle Peak, the Boulders is a spectacular resort, set in well….very large boulders. This luxury features stunning natural beauty, similar to the Four Seasons.
An acclaimed spa and two golf courses surround the property which is near the northern McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Individual casitas have kiva fireplaces. The resort is all organic, down to the wine. You can hike among the ancient granite boulders…or climb them…their expert guides will lead you up 75 ft.!

Scottsdale Fairmont Princess
A bit to the south of Pinnacle Peak is this beautifully designed resort. The spacious southwestern style rooms with balconies overlook their lushly landscaped grounds or the Scottsdale TPC course, where the Phoenix Open is held. It’s a popular hotel for conferences in the winter and family destination in the summer, as they have essentially a water park with slides and “Dive-In” movies.
(If you or friends are visiting the Pinnacle Peak area in winter, a less expensive choice is Scottsdale Villa Mirage Resort - not really a resort), next to the Princess. The only quibble about this area around the Princess (and Kierland a bit further south) is that unlike Four Seasons, the mountains are not as close and the surrounding natural desert is not as lush.

The Hideout at RedBuck Ranch B & B
A short, scenic drive east, “down the hill” toward the Verde River and towards Fountain Hills, is this charming B & B. Designed for couples seeking a romantic retreat in the desert, the Santa Fe Style complex includes your own private casita and pool, because they only book one couple at a time. Nestled in one of the most verdant areas of Sonoran Desert, richly studded with giant saguaros, you can watch the sun set on Four Peaks from your balcony and view one of the starriest skies you will find in the Valley, as this “hideout” is far away from the lights of the cities.

Just up the road about 15 minutes from Pinnacle Peak is the lovely art village of Carefree. The Carefree Resort is a two-story hotel with a couple of pools built in the sixties… not like the newer upscale resorts, but the mountain foothills property and desert surroundings are spectacular.
With tennis courts and a spa, rooms are very reasonable. Their delightful Lariat Restaurant has beautiful views.
